Children aged 8-12

Children are exceptionally quick learners of singing. In our experience, private lessons and singing tuition best starts from around the age of 8, with exceptions in some cases for children who are younger.

Our studio welcomes children for both one-one/private singing lessons, shared lessons (with a friend or sibling) and group ensemble classes.

At this age, children maintain interest and engage in lesson content and lessons that revolve around the following:

  • Creativity, expression and enjoying singing! We aim to ensure our lessons are caring, fun and filled with plenty of self-discovery!

  • Vocal technique and singing skills appropriate to your child's age and stage of vocal development (pre-puberty and puberty changes the voice)

  • Aural skills & pitch (singing in tune)

  • Musicianship, collaboration and working with their teacher/live accompaniment

  • Performance, stage and audio equipment skills once they are ready

  • Introducing good vocal health habits

Teens + HSC

At this age, singing lessons and vocal coaching focuses on the individual requirements of each student and their unique voice:

  • Teens, and in particular, older teenagers, love being creative with their singing. We often have students learning vocal tricks and developing vocal style and genre.

  • Vocal technique and singing skills appropriate to the stage of vocal development (pre-puberty and puberty changes the voice)

  • Aural skills & pitch (singing in tune)

  • Musicianship, collaboration and working with their teacher/live accompaniment

  • Performance, stage and audio equipment skills once they are ready

  • Developing good vocal health habits

HSC Students (from Year 11 onwards) are facilitated, coached and supported towards the following:

  • Repertoire and topic selection

  • Technique and versatility

  • Wellbeing and taking care of the voice, and themselves, through the HSC process

  • Assistance in organising ensemble members, backing vocalists, accompanists etc.

  • Our teachers communicate with music teachers, where possible, in order to provide our students with support towards the specific requirements of their school music teachers.
